CHAMPAIGN — Some students are getting the red carpet treatment. Wednesday night was the final installment of the Pens to Lens Screenwriting Competition.
Students K-12 wrote screenplays and then some were picked to be made into movies. Those films are premiering at the Art Theater in about an hour.
But first, students are enjoying what it’s like to be a movie star. Check out this 50-foot red carpet rolled out just for them.
Earlier this year, 120 students submitted original screenplays to the Champaign-Urbana Film Society. They picked nine to turn into movies with the help of area movie-makers.
Some of the others which weren’t picked were turned into movie posters designed by local designers. Those are lined up along the red carpet for the screenwriters, family, friends and fans to enjoy.
